Maimoa means “favoured place” so it will come as no surprise that, over the years, our homestay has become a favourite destination for many international visitors.
The tranquil, quiet and restful location promotes a truly relaxing environment that you will want to visit again and again.
We have amazing views of our local mountain Tauhara, the great lake as well as the bigger mountains (Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe and Tongariro beyond. Maimoa homestay is close to Huka falls, Craters of the Moon and all the other volcanic activities in the region.
We are only 45 minutes from Rotorua and less than 2 hours from Napier. Enjoy home baking with great coffee or tea or a glass (or two) of fine wine over a delicious dinner*.
Your hosts Godfrey and Margaret Ellis (with extended family comprising of Josh the friendly Labrador and chatty Jaz, our Balinese cat) assure you of a very warm welcome.
